Arabian Ranches 2 is younger than the original Ranches, and that is actually good news — if you act now. The damas planted when these villas were handed over is reaching the age where the roots start causing real damage. Removing it at this stage is far cheaper and far less disruptive than waiting.
Why damas is a problem in Arabian Ranches 2
- Trees are maturing rather than mature: the root system is established but has not yet done its worst
- Newer pipework and drainage is not immune — damas roots enter at the joints regardless of how new they are
- Landscaping is still developing, so removal now means you can replant properly rather than repair later
- Boundary hedges are thickening and starting to lift paving and wall footings
This is the ideal moment to deal with it. A young-mature damas comes out cleanly; a twenty-year-old one is a much bigger and more expensive job.
The damage damas does
Damas (Conocarpus) roots actively grow towards moisture. In a villa that means they head for your drains, your water lines and your pool. Once inside a pipe they keep growing, deform it and block it. - Blocked and broken water and sewage pipes
- Cracked, bulging or toppled boundary walls
- Damage to pool shells, paving and villa foundations
- A rising DEWA bill from a leak you cannot see
- Pollen and allergy complaints, and weakened plants nearby

- Drains that block repeatedly
- A boundary wall that is leaning, bulging or cracking
- Lifted paving, interlock or pool decking

Cutting the trunk will not fix it
This is the mistake that costs people twice. Fell the tree and leave the roots, and the root system stays alive, regrows and carries on damaging your pipes. A damas is only gone when the roots are out of the ground.
